Peer Mentoring

A friendly face to help you at the start of your degree.

What's on this page?

Peer Mentors offer guidance and support to students at the beginning of their University journey by sharing their experience of student life at the University of Bath.

Find out more about becoming a peer mentor

All first year students at the University are allocated a Peer Mentor so you have a friendly face on campus to help you settle in and support you during your first year. Mentors are based and supported by other staff and volunteers in your department.

After meeting your Peer Mentor at your department's Welcome Event (more info below!), you could ask them about:

  • What to bring to University,
  • Useful tips on the course (e.g. how to study effectively, additional support),
  • Getting involved in University life,
  • Recommendations for exploring Bath.

Welcome Events

Around induction week, each department runs their own welcome event. This is a chance to meet your Peer Mentor and other students in your year in a fun and relaxed environment – previous events have included campus treasure hunts, codebreaking games and quizzes. Find out when your event is on your induction timetable.

Can’t make your welcome event? Reach out to your Peer Mentor beforehand to arrange a different time to meet with them around campus or online.
