The University has announced at Senate on 15th April 2015 that it will NOT be changing the shape of the Academic Year for 2016/17
Having considered all of the comments and evidence submitted by staff and students over the past three months, the University today announced that it is planning on pushing back its proposed change to the academic year and fixing the 2016/17 academic year with the semesterly structure that has been used previously.
They shall also be setting up a working group for the 2015/16 academic year, consisting of academic staff, professional services staff and students to decide how the University wishes to proceed going forward with any change. This group will be considering all of the comments received through the consultation and the results of the poll run by the Students' Union.
Throughout any of these discussions though, the Students' Union shall continue to follow our stance expressed in our open letter to the University late last month, a copy of which you can find below.
Thanks to those of you who took part in our poll. We had over 1300 respond, which asked you to give your opinion on the potential changes. From this feedback we were able to form our view as a Students’ Union and be firm with the University on our stance and how we felt they should go forward.
