Meet the Coaches
Our performance teams and recreational sessions are almost entirely coached by student volunteer coaches. Each year, we run a coaching mentorship scheme for students interested in coaching and joining our wonderful team of dedicated coaches here at the University of Bath. Meet some of our Coaches below!
Women's First Team Coaches
Scott Williams & Veikka Korhonen
Scott and Veikka will be leading the charge as coaches for the Women’s First team! Scott, our club’s Head Coach, not only oversees the entire coaching staff but also brings a wealth of experience to the W1s. Having coached them in his first and second year, we’re thrilled to have him back for one final season in his last year. Veikka, who assisted with coaching the W1s during his first year, is also excited to continue his role this season!
Men's First Team Coaches
Nina Maudling & Charlie Seddon
Both with an Assistant Coaching Qualification from Volleyball England under their belt, the duo brings an immense amount of experience to the team. Nina, who led the Men’s 2nd team to great success last year, and Charlie, with a wealth of coaching experience from his time at Bath, are ready to take the team to new heights!
Women's Second Team Coaches
Tomas Saillez & Ece Eryilmaz
Tomas and Ece are stepping into their first year of coaching, and we’re eager to see their impact! Both talented outside hitters with great personalities, we have no doubt that they’ll guide the women’s second team to success in their Southwest League debut.
Men's Second Team Coaches
Jon Cheung & Daniel Dehdashti-Gonzalez
Jon and Daniel are both members of our official Beach Volleyball Squad, but don’t let that fool you— their strong indoor experience adds valuable depth to the team. This year, they will be taking the reins, managing the Men’s 2nd team in the Southwest League.
Women's Third Team Coaches
Kateryna Dzemliuk & Tanay Hemchand
Kateryna, our current club secretary, and Tanay, a former club secretary (what a coincidence!), are both experienced middle blockers. They’re enthusiastic about their new roles as coaches for the women’s third team this year. Good luck to you both!
Men's Third Team Coaches
Isaac Andal & Tyler Reynolds
Isaac, who coached the Men’s third team last year, will be joined by Tyler, an expert libero for the Men’s 1st team stepping into his first year of coaching. Together, the pair will be leading the M3s in their quest for victory in the Bristol League this year!
Men's Fourth Team Coaches
Pop Sujarirat & Ed Blamey
Pop Sujarirat, who coached both the Women’s 1st team and the Men’s 4th team last year, will continue as the M4 Lead Coach this season. He’ll be joined by Ed, a skilled middle blocker stepping into his first year of coaching. Together, they’re set to lead the M4s with experience and fresh energy.
Beach Squad Head Coach
Charlie Seddon
Charlie, also a coach for the Men’s 1st team, is stepping up to head coach our exciting new beach squad! With over 10 committed players ready to embrace beach volleyball in all weather conditions, this team is gearing up for an action-packed year as well as the BUCs Beach Championships in June. We can’t wait to see what they’ll achieve under Charlie’s leadership—best of luck to you all!
Recreational Officer and HEVO
Pop Sujarirat
Pop is our recreational officer for the 24/25 academic year, and so will coordinate the year’s recreational sessions. Pop manages our recreational captains, and will be helping teach you everything you need to know to have a blast learning how to play volleyball.
Coaching Mentorship Scheme
Our coaching mentorship scheme serves to develop interested players into fully-fledged Bath Volleyball student coaches. Each year, mentees apply and are selected to participate in this scheme. Throughout the year, mentees shadow a current student coach during trainings, learning how to set goals for a team and how to organise sessions to achieve them, and many more essential coaching skills. At the end of the year our these mentees will have the skills to coach their own Bath Volleyball teams in future!
You don't have to be a pro-athlete to coach a team. You just need determination and passion. As a club, we work with our student coaches to match their preferences, whether it be time commitment, teams or coaching style (individual coach or co-coaching set ups).
If this is something you are interested in, or have any questions about how our mentorship scheme works, please shoot us a message on Instagram or at su-volleyball@bath.ac.uk.
