Look After Your Mate
Often starting a conversation with a friend is the first step to supporting them.
We know that most students talk to their friends when they are having a tough time. We can talk to friends in confidence and they help us to keep challenges in perspective. Friendship can play a key role in helping someone live with or recover from any difficulties they are facing. But it can be hard to know what to say when a friend is struggling.
Run by SU Advice & Support in conjunction with Student Minds Bath, our ‘Look After Your Mate’ workshop gives tips and tools to support a friend in need.
Workshops to be announced soon!
The workshop includes:
- Key practical tips for supporting a friend
- Spotting signs your friend is struggling
- How to start a conversation
- How to support a friend: listening and motivating
- Signposting to further support
- Looking after your own wellbeing as a supporter
This workshop is open to anyone who wants to learn more about supporting someone experiencing mental health difficulty, whether there is a specific person in mind or you would like to know for the future.
This workshop has been developed by Student Minds.
