Opportunities for Rec Players

  1. Wednesday Coached Sessions
Every Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm, we offer coached sessions, run by our team players, tailored to different skill levels:

  • Beginners: Light coaching with a focus on fitness, technique, and matchplay (e.g. warm-ups, drills, and conditioned games with feedback from a team player).

  • Intermediate: For those with some experience, offering more technical coaching and regular matchplay.

  • Advanced: For players aiming to join the teams, with rigorous, tactical training and matchplay under pressure.

First Session Free: If you’re unsure, come along for a free trial during your first session. After that, membership is required.

These sessions offer a great opportunity to meet players of similar standards who you can go on and play at your own convenience.

  1. Recreational Team League Overview

The Team League is a highlight for recreational squash players, providing a fun, competitive environment. It’s open to all club members, regardless of skill level, and runs every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 10pm.

How It Works:

  • Team Formation: At the beginning of each semester, players are divided into mixed-ability teams. This ensures that each team has a balance of beginner, intermediate, and advanced players, creating an even and fair competition across the league.

  • Weekly Matches:

  • Each Tuesday, your team will face another team in a series of matches. Players of similar levels will be matched up to play against each other (beginners vs. beginners, intermediates vs. intermediates, etc.).

  • The format for each match is best of 5 games, with each game played to 11 points. If the score reaches 10-10, a sudden-death rule applies, meaning the first player to score 11 wins the game.

Scoring and Results:

  • Teams earn points based on the outcome of each match. Points may be awarded for individual games won, and at the end of the evening, the team with the most overall victories is declared the winner of that round.

  • The league continues throughout the semester, with teams competing weekly. At the end of the semester, the overall league champions are determined and crowned victorious for that semester.

Why Join?

  • Skill Development: Playing regularly against players of a similar level is a great way to improve your gameplay and work on tactics in real match situations.

  • Social Aspect: Team League is an excellent opportunity to meet new people in the club and build friendships with other squash enthusiasts.

  • Experience: It’s a chance to watch higher-level players, learn from them, and eventually improve your own game.

Whether you’re a beginner looking for more game time or an advanced player looking to hone your skills, the Rec Team League offers something for everyone.
