Coxing at CrewBath
Anyone can cox!
Enjoy driving and shouting at people? This could be the role for you... The cox (short for coxswain) is in charge of steering the boat, issuing commands, and motivating the crew.
Whether you have coxed before Univeristy or would love to learn - we have a great group of coxes and a great training programme. Coxes are key members of BUBC, both on the water and at socials! It’s a great opportunity to meet lots of fantastic people and spend time outdoors and on the water - you can also keep fit by participating with the rowers land training sessions (or not!).
New coxes start out with the Novice squad and learn how to keep crews safe and motivated on the water. Anyone can join and you don’t need any prior experience - we will teach you everything you need to know to get started and you'll get plenty of opportunities to practice!
More experienced coxes work with our Senior squads and get to race in some really great crews. Senior coxes develop and refine their skills while out on the water and work closely with rowers and the coach to get the best out of their boats.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to find out more!
