What We Do
We have something on offer something for everyone; Whether you are looking to try something new this year, or are already an accomplished rider wanting to represent a University team!

COMPETITION
We have both BUCS (British University & College Sport) teams and Development teams.
BUCS teams compete against other universities in the South West, aiming to qualify for Regional Championships and then onto the National Finals. The home ground and training facility for the BUCS teams is Jill Carenza Equestrian, Cotswolds. These consist of you and your team being pulled out of a hat to ride unknown horses within a dressage test and a showjumping round against other universities.
Development Teams are also based at Jill Carenza Equestrian, Cotswolds. These teams compete against other universities across the year in a friendly league and act as a development for the BUCS teams.
Team trials will be held within the first few weeks of semester and sign ups will be available within freshers week. For more information concerning competitive teams, please contact our BUCS Captain Jodie Rogers.
Polo teams will play at Druids Lodge Polo Club. The Club holds regular University tournaments and there is also the opportunity to compete in Winter and Summer Nationals.
RECREATION
LESSONS
We will be hosting lessons every Wednesday afternoon at Rein and Shine Stables, Swindon. These lessons are open to anyone, whether you wish to take up a new sport or want to improve your riding.
Typical lessons include flatwork and polework and riders will be grouped according to ability to ensure everyone has a worthwhile and enjoyable time. These lessons will have a cost each time you go, however there is no obligation to go every week: you can go as much or as little as you like.
For those with no experience at all, injured riders, those over the weight limit, or more skilled riders who want to improve their technique with some analytical work, Rein and Shine Stables also offer an Eventing Simulator. This gives you the practice of riding a horse without being on a real one.
We discount the price of the lessons for members and there will be a further discount if you pay for 10 lessons upfront (this will be a separate product on the products page).

POLO
This year we will be playing Polo at Druids Lodge Polo Club. Druids Lodge is a very accommodating club, with regular lessons on offer for all abilities. Even if you don't wish to play, Polo is a very exciting spectator sport and there will be games, tournaments and socials throughout the year open for all to attend.

TRAIL/LONG DISTANCE RIDING
At Jill Carenza Equestrian, we offer trail rides and hacks in the scenic terrain of the Cotswolds. This will only be on offer to the more experienced riders as the horses can be very forward going and would include cantering and potential for some jumping.
For more information regarding trekking or trail/ long distance riding, get in touch with us. This is likely to be later in the year as this is heavily dependent on the ground being good!
SOCIALS!
Meeting up and taking trips as a club is always a lot of fun: this year, we plan to attend many events including Races at Bath Racecourse, the nearby Badminton Horse Trials, Horse of the Year Show, Excel, Burghley, Snowball, Christmas Dinners, and Polo Tournaments at Druids Lodge.
Aside from horses, we also hope to get together for many events including BBQs, nights out in town, ice skating, crazy golf, and of course SCORE and Fishies (if you don't already know, you'll find out soon).
Christmas and end-of-year meals are always a highlight.

We have on offer A WIDE VARIETY OF EQUESTRIAN ACTIVITIES FOR ALL ABILITY LEVELS - suggestions for other activities are welcome too.
We meet up for REGULAR SOCIALS - we like to make sure we do things for both those who like to drink and those who are not so keen. By participating in a club you form friendships across all years and courses of University! You are also more than welcome to bring flatmates to socials if you don't feel like coming alone.
