Who we are

An inclusive society offering a space to indulge in all things transport! Whether you're obsessed with trains, trams, busses or just want to learn more about the infastructure that keeps this country going, railsoc is a great opportunity to make new friends, aquire new skills all while having a fantastic time!

What we do

There will always be something going one!

  • Model Railway Sessions - We host free weekly model railway sessions. Here you'll find yourself landscaping, painting, scheduling and modelling, all while meeting new people in a calm and engaging environment
  • Train Spotting - Whether you're a seasoned anorac or just want to see some cool trains, everyone is welcome. Train spotting will occur once a month where we will aim to go to a new station each time
  • Heritage Railway - Who doesn't love a good steam train! With multiple heritage railways within an hour from bath we hope to explore a couple throughout the year, keep your eyes on our socials and this page for any updates!
  • Museum Visits
  • Talks from Experts - railsoc is looking to reach out to external speakers to talk about all things transport!

Tickets

If there is nothing here, it’s because we aren’t selling anything right now.

Social media

We have an Instagram page where we post about our events, as well as the Bath Rail and Transport Society Discord where you can keep up with other members of the society. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch at su-railsoc@bath.ac.uk!

Welfare and Inclusivity

We really want you to feel safe and included in railsoc, no matter your background, course or culture. If you have concerns about a member of railsoc or an event we are running, please contact the chair in the first instance. Emails sent to this address will be treated as confidential where possible, but in some circumstances we are required to share information with the Students’ Union. If concerns relate to a committee member, please speak to a committee member if you feel comfortable doing so, or make a report to the Students’ Union directly. You can find more details on complaints here.

If you have specific access needs that we are not meeting, please let us know! You can email the entire committee. You can also disclose your needs directly to the Students’ Union. Even if we can’t meet your needs straight away, we can try to improve!

If there’s anything else you want to talk about, please do get in touch with any committee member using whatever form of communication you prefer!
