Chair: Xandi

Hi there! My name's Xandi and I'll be your Chair for the coming year. I am a second year and study people and the planet whilst dabbling in a bit of Biochemistry. Having lived in Malawi during one of the worst Cyclones on record I am super passionate about addressing the climate crisis in order to protect those more vulnerable to its effects. I love reading, playing Ultimate Frisbee and welcoming as many students to our weekly meetings every Thursday. If you think you know about climate change then come test your knowledge every THURSDAY on Thursday at the weekly People and Planet meetings on Thursday!!!!

Treasurer: Matt

Hi! I’m Matt, a second year economics student. I’ll be your treasurer for the coming year and I’m excited to transform the society with my fellow committee members. My passion for the environment comes from my love for animals, I went vegan three years ago and have an adorable dog named Alfie. I’d love to get to know you at our weekly Thursday meetings & events and discuss how we can enact change :)

Committee member: Lillie

Hi! I’m Lillie, one of your committee members for this year! I’m in my second year studying psychology, which means that I have both a strong interest in the nitty-gritty of social action, and that I’ll use my best mind tricks to convince you to join us. There’s really no escaping the far-reaching effects of the climate crisis, even at university, and so I’m excited about hearing all of your ideas for making a positive impact on our planet :)).

Committee member: Olivia

Hey!

I’m Liv, a fourth year Politics and International Relations student and I will be on the committee this year! I love paddle boarding, travelling, languages and art. I look forward to being a part of this journey to discuss the climate crisis more deeply, assist in some important campaigns we have coming up and to try and make a difference on campus. See you around (hopefully at our meetings on Thursdays)!

Campaigns organiser: Jojo

Hi everyone! I’m Jojo and I will be on committee for People and Planet as the campaigns organiser. I’m a 4th year Biology student who loves nature and hates the people who profit from its destruction. This year I want to get the Fossil Free Careers campaign into full action, with the aim of persuading the university to adopt an ethical careers policy whereby fossil fuel companies will no longer be allowed to attend careers events and advertise vacancies to our students via the university. We need as many people as possible to get involved, especially YOU! For more information about the campaign, please email me, visit the People and Planet page and, most importantly, come to our meetings!
