The award, from the National Union of Students, recognises the work that the SU Officer team has done over the last 12 months with regards to campaigning.
Students and staff in the students’ union at the University of Bath are celebrating after the team of elected student officers picked up a 
national award at a ceremony in Birmingham last night.
The award, from the National Union of Students, recognises the work that the team has done over the last 12 months, particularly in the way they highlighted student concerns over University governance and in challenging sexual harassment on campus through the #NeverOK campaign.
The Representation & Campaigning Award marks the end of a remarkable year in which many of The SU’s top ten issues have also been delivered, including a firm commitment to build a 3G training strip on campus, major commitments to improving sustainability in the Bath curriculum, and improvements to access for students with disabilities.
The judging panel commented on how impressed they were with the way the at the officer team had pulled together in the face of a challenging year, working as a team to achieve their goals.
In particular, the panel was impressed with the way that The SU has worked to embed student representation in all elements of the University’s decision-making.
Ben Davies, SU President for 2017/18, said: “We set out this year to be the authentic voice for students, delivering changes that benefit students at Bath.
“It has been a challenging year, but we have stuck to our principles, taken a very considered approach, and achieved what we have needed to throughout the year.
“I’d like to thank all the staff and fellow students who have supported us, and worked alongside us, to help students get the most out of their time here.”
It has been a record year for the number of entries to the NUS awards, with hundreds of students’ unions from across the UK submitting entries.
