Congratulations to Professor Phil Taylor who has been appointed as the next VC.
A huge congratulations to Professor Phil Taylor who has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath and will take up office on 1 August 2024.
The SU were delighted to be part of the process for recruitment, with our SU Officers and selected student leaders sitting on relevant panels to provide student feedback.
SU Community Officer Hanna said "We are so excited to welcome Professor Phil Taylor as our new Vice-Chancellor! Without doubt, he will have a great impact on the student experience and we, the SU, are looking forward to a strong and positive working relationship with him over the years to come".
SU President Jimena Alamo said "Professor Taylor showed outstanding interest in the student experience at Bath and the work we do in The SU since the first time we met, before he came to campus for his interview and on the engagement day. On the days he was on campus, he surprised me as well as the other officers and students involved with how much he priorities the student experience, and how well he recognises that students are at the core of our university's community. Students who participated in the process were very satisfied with his answers to questions on pressing student issues. I can say with certainty that he will be a great addition to Bath, and we can't wait to start working with him and taking the SU and the university into this new period of our history!"
