*Please note, only Postgraduate Students can nominate themselves for this role. This includes all students either completing their Doctorate, those on an MRES pathway or students completing their master's degree. For more information, please email sureturningofficer@bath.ac.uk.
The Postgraduate Officer is responsible for representing the interests of both our Postgraduate Taught Student Community as well as Doctoral students based within the Doctoral College. Split into two halves, the postgraduate officer will focus their time on both the Educational Experience for all Postgraduate students as well as responding more broadly to student queries to ensure that all postgraduate students have a positive and meaningful time at university.
To represent students' academic interests, the postgraduate officer will work closely with our Postgraduate Taught Academic Reps as well as our Doctoral Representatives. Together, you will collectively use student feedback to debate key topics as well as actively plan campaigns to tackle key topical issues from the perspective of learning and teaching.
Whilst the post-holder will understand the significance and importance of Education, they will also spend time developing and running events which support all Postgraduates to come together and become an active community of students. This could be liaising with the SU’s Freshers Week Captains to organise Postgraduate specific events during welcome week, running our regular Doctoral Lunches or liaising with our student societies to encourage postgraduate participation.
To support all elements of the role, the Postgraduate Officer will form strong partnerships with senior staff from across the university, as well as work closely with staff in both the professional and academic services. In addition, they will also be regularly attending university committees where they will need to champion and advocate for Postgraduate Students.
