Ensure students feel they belong by establishing and monitoring a comprehensive range of extracurricular opportunities which are financially accessible to all students

What is the issue about?

Despite inflation rates falling, the cost of living still remains high. Students are working now more than ever to cover their essentials due to maintenance loans not being enough. The university community has a fantastic offering in its facilities, services and extracurricular experiences, but the free offering that students have come to expect and enjoy as part of their tuition fee is slowly being eroded. things that used to be free now cost money or offer less than before. We wish to maintain the fantastic offering the university has for the foreseeable future.

What are we asking the University to do?

We would like to see a full mapping of the university-led offering outside of teaching so that we can track and monitor all changes to pricing and offering. This is to ensure that students are not being asked to pay for extra things that would greatly enhance their experience here at Bath. This would ensure a comprehensive range of free or low-cost student experiences and services.

What will success look like?

1. Establish KPI's/principles outlining shared goals (e.g. affordability, scope of offer) for Bath's community/extra-curricular offer and how these can be monitored.
2. Full mapping of the university extra-curricular offer including how much they cost this year vs. last year and what is included.
3. For all price increases to be justified against agreed principles of affordability and belonging via appropriate committees
