Health and Safety
BJJ is a contact sport and therefore has an inherent risk of injury.
However, with experienced health and safety trained coaches, risk assessed sessions and appropriate facilities and a few precautionary measures from your part these risks are eliminated.
All you need to do is make sure your training partners are aware of any existing injuries you may have, apply only as much pressure both you and your partner feel comfortable with and, tap (submit) on time while training and sparring when you get caught.
Unfortunately, skin infections are common in BJJ due to the close contact nature of the sport.
To avoid this please employ some basic hygiene before attending a session: clean body, washed kit, trimmed nails, deodorant, no open cuts.
If you suspect you have a skin infection please do not train, if unsure always ask.
